Black History Month

October is celebrated as Black History Month, a time to recognise the achievements, contributions, and rich heritage of Black communities. It’s an opportunity to learn, reflect, and celebrate the often-overlooked impact of Black people in all areas of life, from culture and innovation to social justice.

This year’s theme is Reclaiming Narratives, focusing on empowering Black communities to share their history beyond just stories of resilience. It highlights their achievements, successes, and rich cultural heritage, aiming to transform how Black history is taught and celebrated.

If your Club, Team, Society, Course or Faculty are holding any events to celebrate Black History Month and would like support from the Students’ Union through promotion on Social Media for students to attend or any other resources please get in touch with us on studunion@southwales.ac.uk or via our social media

Throughout the month we will be hosting Black History Month themed events such as Movie Nights, Book Club, Creation Sessions, and Coffee Mornings.
