I'm Ojo kayode toyosi and I am running for VP Activites in the upcoming elections because I believe I have the most pragmatic and realistic ideas that deal with the concerns that I have seen and heard from accross campus.
Before you read my manifesto, I would like to tell you why I’m running for VP. This role is actually all about YOU, your Social life and Education. I hope to represent students on matters relating directly to students’ Activities in the campus, if you agree with me it’s not all about education you need to socialize to cool off stress,and also engaging in social workshops that would be helful to you.l. However I noticed students on campus needs series of social activities in the campus, where be different countries come together to socialize, which has not been happenning in Usw . My aim is to ensure that every student has access to whatever support they need in order to make their time at UWS as wonderful as possible.
I aim to organise series of activities for all students, and also organise social workshops everywhere, there by student can ease there stress and also feel comfortable and have a wonderful stay in Usw.
If elected these are the pledges I will be mainly working on:
Unity: Am so much interested in unity, I believe with my ideals of introducing social activities in the university would actually bring students from different countries and culture together, if Elected I will rapidly improve on this.
Sport Engagement: my aim is to introduce new sport activities in the school, introducing football competition between students from different countries from different department, and awarding with trophies and cash reward, If elected I promise to make your social and Education life intresting.
-Module Information – I will work on providing more information to students when they are choosing their optional modules. I will make sure that the students will never feel like they do not have enough information. This includes not only details about the content of a specific module, but also information about assessment breakdown. Every department needs to provide more information about the lecturer and lecturing style.
- Job Fairs: I would concerntrate more on job fairs for students who are finding it difficult to secure job most especially Freshers, organising different seminars and also teaching students how Cv are created when seeking for job, if elected I promise to work on this.
-Exam and Course Feedback -it has been noticed by students that there is unsufficient feedback on courseworks and exams, if there is any at all. If elected, I will work on this issue and ensure there are higher standards for giving feedback in every form: online through Fraser, online course work submission, and personal. I believe we can achieve this through better communication between students and professors.
-Student Representation While the process of electing student reps improves every year and most of the students are now aware of the existence of their reps, there is still a lack of knowledge of the purposes, duties, and repsonsibilities of reps. I will work to educate students on what reps do and why they are so important, especially to first year students who just start their university life.
-Workshops for Freshers- I will work on organizing more workshops by the Student Union on topics such as Plagiarism, Essay Writting skills, budgetting for books and fees, and easy steps for search of online journals and resources.
