About Us

USW Racing is the home of the University of South Wales' Formula Student team and motorsport society.

USW Racing is the University of South Wales’ student-led Formula Student team and motorsport society.

Formula student is Europe’s most established educational engineering competition, with over twenty years of history behind it. The competition is built around the development of enterprising and innovative engineers encouraging more young people to take up a career in engineering. Universities from across the globe come together to compete at Silverstone in a range of static and dynamic events which showcase each team’s car and business plans. Teams are required to not only design and build a formula car but also present a business presentation alongside it.

The team has another project on a Mazda MX-5 which will be used to attend track days and compete in hill climbs and sprint races. This provides a space for our members to develop their skills to help better them as professionals. But also allows for a less time-pressured environment and allows those who are less interested in Formula Student to be able to improve their practical and soft skills.

Our team also organises and hosts karting days out and other events such as bar nights. We usually like to organise social events as a team and get as many involved as possible.

If you have an interest in the team and would like to get involved please get in touch with our email or message us through our social media accounts.
